Description of Service & Scope
Flash Translate is a browser extension ("the Extension") that provides AI-powered translation for selected text, full-page content, and video subtitles, using a Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) model: you connect your own API key from a third-party large language model (LLM) provider, and the Extension sends your translation requests directly to that provider. The Extension is currently available for Chrome, with Safari support planned. These Terms govern your use of the Extension and this website (flashtranslate.net).
Account Registration & Your Obligations
You may use the Extension without an account (guest mode) with reduced functionality (up to 2 saved LLM configurations, no cross-device sync), or create an account via Google, Apple, or email/password sign-in to unlock subscription features. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Extension. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account, and must provide accurate information and promptly notify us of any unauthorized use.
Subscription & Auto-Renewal
Paid subscriptions (monthly or annual, priced as shown on the Pricing page) unlock unlimited LLM configurations and real-time cross-device cloud sync, not translation itself, which is fully usable on the free/guest tier. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled beforehand. You can cancel anytime from the Extension's settings page (Chrome) or your Apple ID subscription settings (Safari); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep paid features until then. We do not prorate or refund partial billing periods for mid-cycle cancellations.
Payment Processor (Merchant of Record)
Subscription payments are collected and processed by a third-party Merchant of Record: Lemon Squeezy for Chrome web payments, and Apple App Store for Safari in-app purchases. Flash Translate never receives, handles, or stores your payment card or billing details; billing, invoicing, tax collection, and related consumer-protection obligations are handled directly by the applicable Merchant of Record under its own terms.
BYOK Disclaimer
You are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining your own API key(s) with your chosen LLM provider (e.g. OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or a custom compatible endpoint), for any usage fees that provider charges, and for complying with that provider's own terms of service and acceptable-use policies. Flash Translate is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, pricing, or output of any third-party LLM provider; translation quality depends entirely on the model and provider you select.
Intellectual Property
The Extension's source code, design, logo, and branding belong to the developer, except for open-source components used under their respective licenses. You retain all rights to the content you translate; Flash Translate claims no ownership over your text or translations.
Changes & Termination of Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Extension or this website at any time, with reasonable advance notice where practical for material changes. You may stop using the Extension and delete your account at any time from the settings page; account deletion permanently removes your cloud-stored data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers
The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Flash Translate and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including translation errors, third-party LLM provider outages or costs, or data loss, arising from your use of the Extension.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
Subscription payments are handled by third-party Merchants of Record (Lemon Squeezy and Apple), and any billing or payment dispute is governed by their respective terms and dispute-resolution processes.
