Frequently Asked Questions

See the Pricing page FAQ for subscription cost, what a subscription unlocks, and how to cancel or request a refund.

A few possible reasons, roughly in order of likelihood:

  • Your selection is empty or shorter than 3 characters.
  • The built-in browser language detector thinks the selected text is already in your configured native language — same-language text is skipped by design. Check your native language in Settings → General.
  • Selection translation is turned off, or the current site is on your exclusion list, in Settings → Selection Translation.
  • If language detection fails outright, the icon still shows (it “fails open”) — so a persistent no-show is almost always one of the settings above, not a detection failure.

Do I need to keep a tab or the settings page open?

Section titled “Do I need to keep a tab or the settings page open?”

No. Selection, full-page, and subtitle translation all run directly on the page you’re viewing — the extension’s settings page is only for configuration.

Can I use more than one LLM provider at once?

Section titled “Can I use more than one LLM provider at once?”

Yes. You can save multiple LLM configurations (2 on the free tier, unlimited for subscribers), assign a different one to each feature (selection / full-page / subtitle), and switch between them per translation from the selection panel’s model dropdown. See LLM Configuration.

Only on your device, in a local browser database — never uploaded, never synced, even for subscribers. See Settings → Logs, or Settings Parameters for what’s recorded.

I signed out — did I lose my saved configs?

Section titled “I signed out — did I lose my saved configs?”

You’re asked at sign-out whether to keep or clear your locally stored LLM configurations. If you choose to keep them, they remain usable in guest mode. See Login & Subscription.

Selection and full-page translation work on virtually any webpage and support translating between any language pair your chosen LLM understands. Subtitle translation currently supports YouTube only.
