Selection Translation
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Select any text on a webpage — at least 3 characters — and a translate icon appears near the end of your selection. Click it to open a translation panel that streams the result in real time, token by token.
Using the panel
Section titled “Using the panel”- The panel anchors itself to your selection and starts streaming the translation as soon as it opens.
- Use the model dropdown in the panel footer to switch to a different saved LLM configuration for this translation, without changing your default.
- Selecting new text while a panel is open replaces the current translation with a new request.
When the icon won’t appear
Section titled “When the icon won’t appear”- The selection is empty or shorter than 3 characters.
- The browser’s built-in language detector thinks the selected text is already in your configured native language — same-language text is skipped by design.
- Selection translation is turned off, or the current site is on your exclusion list, in Settings → Selection Translation.
See the FAQ for more troubleshooting detail.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Settings → Selection Translation lets you turn the feature on or off, set the minimum selection length that triggers the icon, exclude specific domains, and choose which saved LLM configuration this feature uses (or follow whichever configuration is marked as default in Settings → LLM Configurations).
